Clyde Baker

Clyde “Junior” Baker, 91, of Decatur went home to be with his Lord Sunday, August 22, 2021. He was born August 19, 1930, in Newell, West Virginia to Clyde and Nettie (Freeland) Baker. He was married in 1957 at Church of Nazarene in Chester, West Virginia to Joyce M. Pugh.
He was a faithful lifetime member of the Nazarene Church and served in a number of positions as church treasurer, Sunday school superintendent and mission director, also board member, sang in the choir and assisted in the children’s department.
He was an Air Force veteran, a graduate of Wells High School in Newell, West Virginia and has a business certification from Ohio Valley Business College. He enjoyed singing and woodworking and with pride, loved the sports activities of his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Decatur; son, Richard (Yolanda) Baker of Monroe; three grandchildren, Randall (Stacey) Baker of Poe; Kyle Baker of Monroe; and Matthew (Kaylyn) Baker of Decatur; and two great-grandchildren, Ronin and Maisie Baker.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers; and two sisters.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Friday, August 27 at Berne Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Rev. Matthew Phillips. Burial will be at Ray Cemetery.
