Charles Hirshey

Charles Franklin Hirshey, 85 of Geneva passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Swiss Village in Berne. He was born Jan. 4, 1938, in Decatur to Harold August and Josephine (Cook) Hirshey. He was married Sep. 26, 1959, in Geneva to E. Betty Kay Koblick.
He graduated in 1956 from Geneva High School. He was a member of the Geneva High Street United Methodist Church and worked for International Harvester in Fort Wayne for 30 years, retiring from its Indianapolis location. He was owner/operator of Geneva Trailer Park and worked for the town of Geneva. He was a member of the Geneva Coffee Club and the Tri-State Gas and Engine Club out of Portland. He enjoyed gas engines, hunting, riding motorcycles, fishing and most of all spending time with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Geneva; two sons, Scott Alan (Teresa) Hirshey; and Brad A. (Amy Toland) Hirshey, both of Geneva; daughter, Lyn Renee (Jonathan) Blomeke of Geneva; grandson, David Scott (Ali) Hirshey of Hartford City; brother-in-law, Art Vorhees of Geneva; one grandson; five step-grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and five step-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Mary Lough; and Annie Vorhees.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 26 from 2-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service Friday, Jan. 27 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva, IN 46740. Officiating will be Pastor Joe Lampton. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva. Military rites will be conducted by Geneva VFW Post 6751.
