Bobby W. Wendel

Bobby W. Wendel, 87, of Bryant (New Corydon) passed away at 2:35 a.m. on Monday, February 11, 2019 at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born on Sunday, September 27, 1931 in Clinton County to Vilas W. and Velda L. (Wyant) Wendel. He was married on Tuesday, November 28, 1950 in New Corydon Lutheran Church to Virginia Leininger.

He was a 1949 graduate of Jefferson Township School in Adams County. He attended the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bryant. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1952-1954. He was a paint finisher and retired from New Idea in Coldwater, Ohio after over 40 years of service. He was a member of the VFW and United Steel Workers Union. He coached Little League baseball and All Stars for several years. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and trapping.

He is survived by his wife of Bryant; daughter, Linda K. Laux of Coldwater, Ohio; four sons, James Robert (Carol) Wendel of Bryant; Jeffery Duane (Diane) Wendel of Mt. Pleasant; David Dean (Carla) Wendel of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; and Dennis Eugene Wendel of New Corydon; brother, Jack (Joan) Wendel of New Corydon; sister, Betty Patch of Geneva; 12 grandchildren, Jill Jenkins; Lisa Stewart; and Justin Wendel, all of Coldwater, Ohio; Steven Wendel; Bradley Wendel; John Wendel; and Keith Wendel, all of Bryant; Craig Wendel of Kansas City, Missouri; Stephanie Jacobs of Alexandria; and Hannah Wendel; Hunter Wendel; and Holden Wendel, all of Ft. Recovery, Ohio; and 12 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, James  Wendel; and sister, Judy Wendel.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, February 13 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, February 14 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Martin Bornhoeft. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
