She was born Saturday, Aug. 30, 1930, at home in rural Geneva to John S. and Florence E. (Schwartz) Steiner. She was married Nov. 6, 1955, at Cross Evangelical Reformed Church in Berne to Christian J. “Chris” Liechty.
She was a member of the First Mennonite Church in Berne. Throughout her life, she remained active in church activities from teaching Sunday school at Cross United Church of Christ, teaching at the Berne Bible School, taking Sunday school attendance and being a longtime supporter of the meat canner.
She was a 1948 graduate of Hartford Township High School. Following graduation, she began her tenure with the Service Store. Throughout her life, she was very involved alongside her husband with his fuel delivery business helping with bookwork and even occasionally delivering fuel. Although, the most important job to her was being a mother and raising her family.
Her hands were rarely still. She was a talented seamstress and enjoyed completing intricate needlepoint work. In many ways a natural nurturer, she spent countless hours tending to her garden and flowers over the years. She provided many with delicious meals, and she thoroughly enjoyed baking and cooking.
