Ben J. Eicher, 69, of Berne passed away Friday, February 28, 2020, at 12:18 p.m. at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born Friday, April 7, 1950, in Adams County to Joseph E. and Elizabeth (Girod) Eicher. He was married Thursday, June 22, 1972, in Adams County to Clara Schwartz.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish Church and was a farmer and school teacher.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; five sons, Benjamin C. (Lydia) Eicher of Celina, Ohio; Noah C. (Marie) Eicher; Joe E. (Katie) Eicher; and Marcus C. (Ada) Eicher, all of Berne; and Paul C. (Mary) Eicher of Geneva; brother, Sam J. (Edith) Eicher of Berne; three sisters, Mary G. Schwartz of Monroe; and Naomi (Pete) Neuenschwander; and Emma (Raymond) Schwartz, both of Geneva; 51 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Joseph J. Eicher; and Jacob J. Eicher; five sisters, Elizabeth, Josephine, Margaret, Frances, Ann; and granddaughter, Melinda Eicher.
Visitation was from Saturday, February 29 from 1-9 p.m. and Sunday, March 1 from 8 a.m.-8 p.m. at the residence 650E 700S, Berne. Funeral services were Monday, March 2 at 9 a.m. at the residence. Officiating was Bishop Samuel M. Schwartz. Burial took place at Bunkerhill Cemetery in Geneva.
