Amos Miller

Amos E. Miller, 83, of Middlebury passed away Friday, March 11, 2022, at 10:35 a.m. at his residence. He had been in declining health for several years. He was born November 10, 1938, in Middlebury to Elmer and Anna (Kauffman) Miller. He was married April 13, 1961, in Topeka to Katie Yoder.
Known to many as Coleman Amos, he had been a farmer and worked at the popcorn plant in Middlebury for five years. He began Miller's Coleman Shop in 1967 and was the owner/operator there for 32 years until his retirement. In retirement, he worked part time at the Davis Mercantile in Shipshewana assisting families at the carousel.
He is survived by his wife; seven sons, Vernon (Edna) Miller of Millersburg; Merle (Erma) Miller; LaVern (Velda) Miller; Norman (Ruth Ann) Miller; and Mervin (Edna) Miller, all of of Middlebury; Willard Miller of Versailles, Missouri; and Marion (Rachel) Miller of Syracuse; daughter, Lorene (Milo) Schwartz of Monroe; sister, Polly (Ralph) Bontrager of Middlebury; sister-in-law, Mary Miller of Marysville, Ohio; step-sister, Mattie Marie Diener of Shipshewana; 40 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; granddaughter, Sara Rose Miller; three sisters, Ida Lambright; Mary Weaver; and Emma Miller; brother, John Miller; two step-sisters, Pollyanna Miller; and Fannie Schwartz; and step-brother, Walter Ray Miller.
Visitation was Saturday, March 12 after 1 p.m. and Sunday, March 13 all day at the family's residence, 11112 CR 16, Middlebury. Funeral services were Monday, March 14 at 9:30 a.m. at the family's residence. Officiating was Bishop Norman Lehman and the home ministers. Burial was at Naylor Cemetery in Shipshewana.
