Amos L. Schwartz

Amos L. Schwartz, 75, of Monroe passed away at 1:20 p.m. on Sunday, February 3, 2019 at his residence. He was born on November 12, 1943 in Adams County to Jacob R. and Lydia A. (Hilty) Schwartz. He was married on September 14, 1968 to Emma K. Schwartz.

He was a member of the Old Order Amish and was a farmer and carpenter.

He is survived by six sons, Elmer E. (Anne E.) Schwartz; Amos E. (Delilah E.) Schwartz, Jr.; and Jake E. (Josephine R.) Schwartz, all of Berne;  Daniel E. (Anna A.) Schwartz of Sharpsburg, Kentucky; and Samuel E. (Frances J.J.) Schwartz; and Joseph E. (Barbara O.) Schwartz, both of Monroe; eight daughters, Kathern E. (Neal J.) Troyer; Delilah E. (Joseph L.) Schwartz; Elizabeth E. (Menas L.) Schwartz; and Lovina E. (Menno S.) Schwartz, all of Berne; Lydia E. (Menno A.L.) Schwartz; Emma E. (John E.) Schwartz; and Mary E. (Rudy C. G.) Girod, all of Monroe; and Rosie E. (John E.) Wickey of Hope, Kentucky; three brothers, Elmer L. (Ida) Schwartz of Salem; and John L. (Lizzie) Schwartz; and Enos L. (Lizzie) Schwartz, both of Monroe;  sister, Anna (Dan) Wengerd of Michigan; sister-in-law, Christine Schwartz of Monroe; 92 grandchildren;  and 21 great-grandchildren;

He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, Elizabeth S. Wickey; sister, Malinda Wickey and her husband, Aaron Wickey; brother, Joe L. Schwartz; one granddaughter; and one stillborn granddaughter.

Viewing will be held from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, February 4 and from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 5 at the residence of Amos L. Schwartz, 2830E 300S, Monroe. Funeral services will be at 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 6 at the residence. Officiating will be Bishop Joseph Wickey. Burial will be at Schwartz Cemetery.
