Amanda H. Wickey

Amanda H. Wickey, 82, of Berne passed away Tuesday evening, Jan. 16, 2024, at Adams Woodcrest in Decatur. She was born March 11, 1941, in Decatur to Henry H. and Katherine (Wickey) Schwartz. She was married Aug. 24, 1958, in Adams County to Samuel M. Wickey.
She attended Open Book Ministries in Berne. Prior to her becoming ill, she volunteered for Compassionate Ministries in Berne. She was faithful in reading her Bible daily. Her selfless nature was evident throughout her life. She enjoyed serving others, baking and crocheting blankets. Above all, she cherished family and the moments spent with each one.
She is survived by six daughters, Ruth (Tim) Gage of Decatur; Susan (Larry) Crismore; and Kate (Kenny) Lairson, both of Berne; Amanda (Stuart) Baily of Geneva; and Mary (Rusty Sliger) Fryback; and Marie (Jeff) Musick, both of Fort Wayne; four sons, Sam Wickey of Castle Rock, Colorado; Dan (Tammy) Wickey of Hutchinson, Kansas; and Henry (Kara) Wickey; and Paul (Rochelle) Wickey, both of Linn Grove; three sisters, Rebecca H. Eicher; Sarah H. Hilty; and Mary H. Shetler; brother, Paul H. Schwartz; 29 grandchildren, including three step-grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren, including seven step-great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild, with two more on the way.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband in 2011; granddaughter, Amy Renee Meyer; grandson, Zion Timothy Gage; and six brothers, David H. Schwartz; Henry H.K. Schwartz, Jr.; Martin H. Schwartz; William H. Schwartz; Andrew H. Schwartz; and Daniel H. Schwartz.
Visitation will be Thursday, Jan. 18 from 4-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, Jan. 19 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Burial will be at Westlawn Cemetery in Geneva.
