Monroe to develop an asset management plan

The Monroe Town Council Thursday night approved a contract with Fleiss & Vandenbrink to develop an asset management plan relating to the town's streets. An asset management plan is a requirement for a matching grant for which the town would like to apply. As part of the $4,500 contract, Fleiss & Vandenbrink will also help the town apply for the grant, which is due by September 28. If awarded, the town will use the grant to improve its streets. The state grant is a 25/75 percent match, meaning that the town will have to put money into the project as well, but it will be matched three to one.
