Roy G. Molter, Sr.

Roy G. Molter, Sr., 92, of Lafayette passed away Monday, Nov. 27, 2023, at Franciscan Health Hospital. He was born Oct. 28, 1931, in Watseka, Illinois to John and Ola (Shidaker) Molter. He was married Dec. 29, 1953, in Goodland to the love of his life, Ruth Ann Pombert.
He was a 1950 graduate of Brook High School. He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War as an aircraft mechanic. He was a farmer in Newton County for many years before retiring in 1991. He was a member of St. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Goodland, currently a member of St. Ann’s in Lafayette and a member of the 4th Degree Knights of Columbus General de Lafayette Assembly 249.
He was quite an entrepreneur in farming, trucking and excavation businesses. He served his community as a Boy Scout Leader and town athletic council in Goodland.
He is survived by his wife; six children, Kathleen (Steve) Rausch of Berne; Roy G. (Teresa) Molter, Jr. of Shelbyville; Steven (Mindy) Molter of Burnettsville; Michael (Amy) Molter of Lafayette; Julia (Robert) Schlotman of Sheldon, Illinois; and Patrick (Margaret) Molter of Westfield; sister-in-law, Vivian Molter; 17 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; four siblings, Clifford and John Molter; Dolores Ansett; and Mary Benner; daughter-in-law, Patsy Molter; and two grandchildren, Gretchen Molter; and Ryan Molter.
Memorial visitation will be Sunday, Dec. 3 from 4-7 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home in Lafayette followed by a Holy Mass Monday, Dec. 4 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church in Lafayette.
