Robert McMillen

Robert L. “Bob” McMillen, 76, of Decatur passed away Friday, Sep. 15, 2023, at his residence. He was born Oct. 22, 1946, in Decatur the only son of John W. “Bill” and Mary Ruth (Bebout) McMillen. He was married July 23, 1966, to Linda D. Roe.
He was a member of Salem Community Church and was a 1964 graduate of Adams Central High School. He worked for International Harvester in Fort Wayne until 1983 and then went on to work at Navistar from 1993 and retired in 2007. His entire life he also worked as farmer on his family farm, this was his main love.
He served his country in the U.S. Naval Reserves, serving a tour during the Vietnam War. He was a member of the American Legion Post 207 in Willshire, Ohio. He and his wife were members of the State Line Motorcycle Club and were regulars at the farmer’s table at Becky’s Restaurant.
He coached Little League Baseball and enjoyed watching his granddaughter’s sporting events. He missed his longtime friend, his dog Rufus. Above all, he loved being with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of Decatur; his children, Rex (Tami) McMillen; and Jodi (Chris) Harper, both of Decatur; two granddaughters, Mariah (Aden) Feasel of Decatur; and Meghan (Quinn) Dailey of Bryant; step granddaughter, Cheyann (Daniel) Goodin of Virginia; five great-grandchildren; and two step great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Sep. 19 from 2-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the 2 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Sep. 20 at Haggard-Hirschy & Zelt Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor James Compton. Burial will be at Backesto (Springhill) Cemetery in rural Berne. Military graveside rites will be provided by the American Legion Post 207 Color Guard.
