Richard Fravel

Richard C. “Dick” Fravel, 84, of rural Geneva passed away Sunday, Jan. 7, 2024, at 4:16 p.m. at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana in Fort Wayne. He was born Monday, Oct. 30, 1939, in Adams County to William and Ruth (Christman) Fravel. He was married Sep. 14, 1975, in Decatur to Sandra Hudson.
He was a 1957 graduate of Geneva High School. He worked as a toolmaker for CTS and also was a self-employed carpenter and builder. He was an expert craftsman and shared his talents in the building and carpentry trades. For many years, his skills were employed by Habegger Builders. He was a member of the Geneva Volunteer Fire Department and enjoyed building and working on cars. He was an avid Dale Earnhardt and Dale Earnhardt Jr. fan and IU basketball fan.
He is survived by his wife of Geneva; three sons, Richard (Tracy) Fravel of Monroe; Mark (Joan) Hudson of Sellersburg; and Mitch Hudson of Portland; three daughters, Rebecca Fravel of Ossian; Lisa (Mike) Roderick of Rosedale; and Melissa (Doug) Griffis of Avilla; 17 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Annette Fravel; six siblings, Agnes Stewart; Dorothy Madden; Charles Fravel; Bob Fravel; Garnet Bulger; and Madeline Henley, and son-in-law, Shawn Yoquelet.
Visitation will be three hours prior to the 2 p.m. service to celebrate his life Thursday, Jan. 11 at Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva. Officiating will be Pastor Paul Strouse. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery in Geneva.
