Mildred Riley

Mildred E. Riley, 95, of Berne, formerly of Monroe, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2023, at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born March 15, 1928, in Wells County to Orval P. and Edith C. (Bowman) Barger. She was married June 24, 1950, in Linn Grove to Robert A. Riley.
She was a member of Pleasant Mills United Methodist Church. She graduated from Lancaster High School and faithfully served her family as a homemaker. She loved watching IU basketball. She also enjoyed going to the lakes and playing card games.
She is survived by two sons, Michael E. (Nancy) Riley of Massillon, Ohio; and Arnold L. (Kathy) Riley of Monroe; three daughters, Marcia K. (William) Schwalm of St. James City, Florida; Annamae (Scot) Odle of Indianapolis; and Robin A. (Kevin) Caffee of Willshire, Ohio; 12 grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on Aug. 25, 1986, five sisters, Virgean L. Bowers; Wilma M. Funk; Phyllis J. Rinehart; Helen M. Thieme; and Marcella L. Gerber; and a brother, Richard E. Barger.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. funeral service Monday, Nov. 20 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Officiating will be Pastor Ernie Suman. Burial will be at Decatur Cemetery.
