Kendall Lehman

Kendall M. Lehman, 71, of Berne passed away Tuesday, Jan. 24, 2023, at Adams Memorial Hospital in Decatur. He was born Jan. 5, 1952, in Decatur to Wilbert William and Dorothy R. (Sprunger) Lehman. He was married Oct. 11, 1980, to Deborah L. Rusher.
He was a faithful member of First Mennonite Church in Berne. He served on the visitation committee and the jail ministry. He was a part of the church bowling league for over 50 years. He oversaw facility maintenance for First Mennonite Church and volunteered for numerous activities and ministries.
He was mission-minded both locally and overseas and served where ever needed. He enjoyed giving his time to others and was involved in the Swiss Heritage Village and was an avid Cub Scout leader. In his spare time, he played shuffleboard. He was a devoted family man and deeply loved his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his three sons, Joshua (Jill) Lehman of South East Asia; Andrew Lehman of Ossian; and Benjamin Lehman of Berne; two sisters, Lanae (Tim) Smith of Portland; and Velma Lehman of Grants Pass, Oregon; two brothers, Alvin (Liz) Lehman of Berne; and Phil (Marty) Lehman of Elkhart; and four grandchildren, Elsie Lehman; Jovie Lehman; Maizie Lehman; and Anastasia Lehman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on Nov. 3, 2016; and two brothers, David Lehman; and Jeffrey Lehman.
Visitation will be Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 4-8 p.m. at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne and one hour prior to the 10 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Feb. 1 at First Mennonite Church in Berne. Officiating will be Pastor Jim Schwartz. Burial will be at Backesto-Springhill Cemetery in rural Berne.
