James Adams

James L. Adams, 85, of Berne passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at Parkview Hospital Randallia in Fort Wayne. He was born Dec. 23, 1937, in Berne to Chester and Julia (Romey) Adams. He was married Sep. 22, 1957, at Berne Evangelical Church to Juanita Litwiller.
He served eight years in the Indiana National Guard. He was a member of New Corydon Bible Church in New Corydon and served as an usher for many years at the church. He was also a former member of E.M.C. west of Berne for many years.
He graduated from Jefferson Township High School in 1957. He worked for Berne Furniture as an upholsterer and retired in 2008 after 50 years of service. Additionally, he worked for four years at TLS in Portland, and during his spare time, he would recover furniture at his home.  
He is quite the pool shark. He loves to play pool! He also drove his golf cart around Berne keeping tabs on what was happening. For 10 summers, he and his wife enjoyed camping at Amishville.
He is survived by two daughters, Mary (Russ) Geyer of Ocean Springs, Mississippi; and Gwen (Troy) Mitchel of Bluffton; brother-in-law, Gary Fosnaugh of Geneva; six grandchildren, Nicole (Kelvin) Gladwin; Lindsey (Vince) Del Greco; Otis (Lyndsey) Mitchel; Curtis (Jackie) Mitchel; Hannah (Samuel) Stevens; and Leah (Travis) Zachary; eight great-grandchildren, Milani Del Greco; Creighton Del Greco; Priya Del Greco; Ellie Mitchel; Lexi Mitchel; Faith Zachary; Grace Gladwin; and Samuel Gladwin.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife on June 23, 2021; son, Steven Todd Adams, in infancy; twin sisters in infancy; and sister, Norma Fosnaugh.
Visitation will be two hours prior to the 2:30 p.m. funeral service Tuesday, Dec. 12 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Yager-Kirchhofer Chapel in Berne. Burial will be at Berne Evangelical Cemetery.
