Iona Amspaugh

Iona Winifred Amspaugh, 91, of Berne passed into the presence of her Lord Tuesday, April 23, 2024, at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born Dec. 10, 1932, in Darke County, Ohio to Wilford Zeller and Lessie (Warvel) Ampsaugh.
She was a 1950 graduate of Greenville High School and furthered her education at St. Paul Bible College in St. Paul, Minnesota, Taylor University in Upland and Ball State in Muncie. She served as a missionary under the Christian and Missionary Alliance in Thailand from 1959 through 1965. She ended her career by serving as a reading specialist for 25 years at Adams Central Community Schools in Monroe. She was active in her community and church. After retiring, she served as a tour guide at Swiss Heritage Village and enjoyed facilitating ladies’ Bible studies.

She is survived by her two sisters, Danna Miller; and Thelma Brewer, both of Darke County, Ohio.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Mary Ellen Hart; brother, Daniel Frederick Amspaugh; and three brothers-in-law, Charles Hart; Roger Miller; and Dean Brewer.
Visitation will be at 12:30 p.m. Monday, April 29 at Swiss Village in Berne followed by the funeral service to celebrate her life at 1 p.m. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Jeff Gaskill. A private family burial will follow the service at Beamsville Cemetery in Darke County, Ohio.
