Gladys L. Maller

Gladys L. Maller, 94, of Bluffton, passed away on Thursday, December 7, 2017 at Bluffton Regional Medical Center. She was born on February 10, 1923 in Wells County to Joel and Lucinda (Baumgartner) Fiechter. She was married on March 26, 1944 in Wells County to Robert J. Maller.

She was a prayer warrior who faithfully served the Lord for 77 years. She was a member of the Apostolic Christian Church. A lifelong homemaker who assisted her husband on the farm, she was also a cook at the Dutch Mill restaurant in Bluffton for 25 years. Later, she was a cook at Coppess Corner in Monroe and retired as a cook from The Corner Depot in Bluffton.

She will be remembered as someone who never knew a stranger and who enjoyed getting to meet new people. She enjoyed sewing and quilting but most of all enjoyed spending time with her family.

She is survived by five sons, Larry (Gwen) Maller of Berne; and Rod (Pat) Maller; Steve (Cindy) Maller; Joel (Denise) Maller; and Robert Jr. (Kim) Maller, all of Bluffton; daughter, Barb (Gary) Schwartz of Bluffton; two brothers, Alvin (Bernice) Fiechter; and Wayne (Dorothy) Fiechter, both of Bluffton; sister, Justine Gerber of Bluffton; 18 grandchildren; and 28 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband on February 16, 1989; great-grandson, Case Maller; three brothers, Melvin Fiechter; Homer Fiechter; and Raymond Dale Fiechter (infant); and two sisters, Devona Gerber; and Ellen Stoller.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, December 11 at Goodwin – Cale & Harnish Memorial Chapel in Bluffton and one hour prior to the 10:30 a.m. funeral service on Tuesday, December 12 at Apostolic Christian Church East. Officiating will be Doyle Frauhiger and Ron Kipfer. Burial will be at Apostolic Christian Cemetery.
