Frederic Pigott

Frederic Charles Pigott, 80, went to be with his Lord and Savior unexpectedly succumbing to heart failure Saturday, April 1, 2023, in Sarasota, Florida. He was born May 22, 1942, in Des Moines, Iowa, to Eugene and Katherine Pigott and grew up in Jacksonville, Illinois. He was married to Janet Liechty.
They lived in Wheaton, Illinois for 46 years, where he taught math at Addison Trail High School. He officiated swim meets for 50 years at various levels, including at numerous Illinois Special Olympics events. In his retirement, he and his wife moved to Swiss Village in Berne allowing him to live close to his children and grandchildren and golf with his sons-in-law, grandsons as well as his many golf buddies.
He loved golf, photography, birdwatching, chocolate (his kids and grandkids loved to raid his chocolate stash) and music. He was especially fond of the Gaither Vocal Band. Despite not being able to carry a tune, his wife would often hear him singing Gaither songs in the shower. In addition, he enjoyed driving Indiana’s country roads and prided himself on never taking the same route twice.
He was not outspoken about his faith, but he lived a life of quiet integrity and steadfastness. He lived out his faith through his actions loving his family and those around him well. He was a devoted and generous husband, father and Grandpa. He was outgoing, showing kindness to everyone he met. He knew no strangers. He always had a smile on his face followed often by his contagious laughter. This honorable man was deeply loved by friends and family and will be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife; two daughters, Carrie (Gary) Ross of Upland; and Amy (Jamison) Egler of Bargersville; three grandchildren, Noah, Logan and Isaiah Ross; brother, Bill (Teryl) of Champaign, Illinois; sister, Barbara (John) Marshall of South Bend; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and younger sister, Patricia (David) Guse.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the 11 a.m. celebration of life service Saturday, April 15 at the Swiss Village Auditorium in Berne.
Memorials may be made to Swiss Heritage Society, Inc., P.O. Box 88, Berne, IN 46711 or www.samaritanspurse.org.
