Dorine Zuercher

Dorine R. Zuercher, 96, of Berne passed away Friday, May 27, 2022, at 1:20 p.m. in her apartment at Swiss Village in Berne. She was born June 5, 1925, in Bluffton to Frank Clifton and Pearl (Trenary) Howard. She was married March 4, 1950, in Bluffton to Clifton D. Zuercher.
She was a graduate of Bluffton High School. She formerly worked as a telephone operator and retired from CTS in Berne after many years of service. She was a member of the Berne Church of the Nazarene, where she was very active in the church. She was the past missionary president and taught Sunday school for several years. She enjoyed reading and all the special friendships she had made over the years with her church family.
She is survived by her three daughters, Cynthia Pyle (Dave) Hirschy of Berne; and Dot Martin (Charles Loew); and Melinda Coy, both of Fort Wayne; five grandchildren, Sara Haines of New Corydon; Deanna Haines of Berne; Kellee Neal of Fort Wayne; Jerry Coy of Angola; and Melissa (Erik) Schlemmer of Ossian; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by her parents; her husband on February 28, 2016; and grandson, John C. Pyle. She was the last living out of her siblings, Lloyd Sowards; Marjorie Mitchell; Katherine Schwartz; Bonnie Rich; and John “Jack” Howard.
Visitation will be Thursday, June 2 from 4-8 p.m. at  Downing & Glancy Funeral Home, 100 N. Washington St., Geneva and one hour prior to the 11 a.m. celebration of life service Friday, June 3 at Berne Church of the Nazarene. Officiating will be Rev. Paul Tubbs and Rev. Matthew Phillips. Burial will be next to her husband at Six Mile Cemetery in Bluffton.
