Deborah Moser

Deborah Louise (Kuhn) Moser’s last breath was taken Saturday, June 3, 2023, at 1:45 p.m. at her home surrounded by her family. Her 67 years of life began May 13, 1956, in Decatur. She was the daughter of Orla L. Kuhn and Mary Jane (Brooks) Kuhn-Smith.
She graduated from South Adams High School in Berne in 1974. She then married her high school sweetheart Jeffrey Lee Moser June 10, 1975, with whom she had two children, Jason Lee Moser and Jayla Lynn (Moser) Deems. In 1973, the L.J. Moser family of Berne moved to Mesa, Arizona to fulfill the lifelong dream of her in-laws of owning a pizza restaurant out west, L.J’s Pizza of Mesa, Arizona. She was a pillar behind the success of Mesa’s oldest family-owned pizza restaurant. L.J.’s Patio Pizza continues today under the ownership of her brother-in-law Clay Alan Moser of Mesa, Arizona who she worked alongside for many years.
She took pride in her work, family and faith. She was an active member of the Valley View Congregation of Jehovah Witnesses of Mesa, Arizona in which she was baptized in 1982 and remained a faithful sister for 41 years. In her spare time, she enjoyed camping, visiting family and training her Labradors, but most of all, the true highlight of her life was being a devoted mother and grandmother.
She is survived by her father and stepmother, Oral L. Kuhn and Carol (Reinhard) Burnfield-Kuhn of Bluffton; her husband of Mesa Arizona; son, Jason (Jessica “Jess”) Moser of Mesa, Arizona; daughter, Jayla (Michael) Deems of Delaware, Ohio; three grandchildren, Dylan Lee Moser; Danielle “Dani” Stacey Moser; and Jacob Mathew Patton, all of Mesa, Arizona; and six siblings, Rebecca (Glen) Agler of Evansville; Steve (Kimmy) Kuhn of Geneva; Micah (Vickie) Kuhn of Decatur; Regina Sue Reed of Bella Vista, Arkansas; Jennifer LeAnn Haman of Unionville, Tennessee; and Annette (Charles) Parr of Bluffton. Her message to her siblings as second in charge …. always keep laughing in my memory.
She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, “second mother” beloved Wanda Nell Brown of Decatur; Judy Nussbaum of Fort Wayne; and Kinsey (Suzy) Brooks of Berne; sister-in-law, Wendy Jo (Robert) Kesceg of Winnsboro, Texas; brother-in-law, Clay Alan Moser of Mesa, Arizona; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Mary Jane Smith; stepfather, Marion “Pud” Smith; father and mother-in-law, Leroy Justice “L.J” and Lenore Elsie (Fuelling) Moser; grandparents, Wilbur and Mary Kathryn (Fifer) Kuhn; and Wheeler and Esther L. (Jones) Brooks; two uncles, John F. Brown; and David Brooks; sister-in-law, Kathy (Nussbaum) Anderson-Kuhn; stepbrother, James “Jim” Burnfield; brother-in-law, David Wayne Haman; nephew, Ross James Kesceg; and niece, Kelci Jane Haman.
