David Flueckiger

David L. Flueckiger, 57, of Fort Wayne, passed away Wednesday, June 21, 2023 at his residence following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born May 17, 1966, in Van Wert, Ohio to Rev. Jerry and Bonnie (Cook) Flueckiger. He was married June 13, 2001, to Deborah McNary.
He grew up attending First Mennonite Church, where his father was the youth pastor. He joined the Berne Fire Department as a volunteer fireman in 1987 and served the Berne community for 10 years. He formerly worked at B.F. Goodrich in Woodburn and earned his electrician journeyman license.
He loved spending time with his family. He had a soft spot for his grandchildren and cherished the time spent with them. He enjoyed watching football and was a devoted Los Angeles Rams fan. He was a baseball and football coach for the Saint Joe Little League.
He is survived by his wife of Fort Wayne; daughters, Erica (Jeremy) Kirchner of Monroe and Taylor Flueckiger of Fort Wayne; son, Tyler Flueckiger of Fort Wayne; brother, Mark (Kim) Flueckiger of Culver; step-daughter, Amber Wilcox; 11 grandchildren, Kaidon Flueckiger, Braxten Kirchner, Bohden Kirchner, Logan Kirchner, Degon Kirchner, Kacyn Zaugg, Kreighten Zaugg, Kashden Zaugg, Kixley Zaugg, Knox Thieme and Kollyns Thieme; nephew, Calvin Flueckiger of Culver; and niece, Joy Miller of Bluffton.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Beth Maag.
Visitation is from 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 26 at First Mennonite Church, 566 W. Main St., Berne. A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, June 27 at the church with Pastor Jim Schwartz officiating. Tuesday there will be no visitation prior to the service but there will be a time for visiting at the meal after the service.
