Emanuel Girod

Emanuel S. Girod, 91, of Berne passed away Thursday, November 18, 2021, at 9:38 p.m. at his residence. He was born February 17, 1930, in Stark County, Ohio to Sam P. and Emma (Yoder) Girod. He was married April 22, 1954, to Leah L. Graber.
He was a member of the Old Order Amish. He was a carpenter and painter for Krick Tyndall in Decatur. He was a foreman at Lehman Feed Mill in the chicken house.
He is survived by his wife of Berne; six sons, Amos L. (Marie F.) Girod of Harlan; Sam L. (Ernestine) Girod of Syracuse; Emanuel L. (Emma E.) Girod of New Haven; Ernest L. (Maryann E.) Girod; and Enos L. (Catherine K.) Girod, both of Monroe; and Simon L. (Judy M.) Girod of Berne; six daughters, Leah L. (Joe M.) Schwartz; Lovina L. (Alvin J.L.) Schwartz; Elizabeth L. (Marvin N.S.) Schwartz; Martha L. (David A.) Schmidt; and Saloma L. (Levi K.) Wickey, all of Monroe; and Emma L. Byler of Salem; sister, Lovina S. (Daniel W.) Schwartz of Monroe; 130 grandchildren; 233 great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, John L. Girod; and David L. Girod; daughter, Lydia L. Girod; son-in-law, Andy Byler; two brothers, Ernest S. and Benjamin S. Girod; two half-brothers, Simon and Neil Troyer; four half-sisters, Alma Wickey; Elizabeth S. Eicher; Margaret S. Schwartz; and Mary S. Schwartz; and nine half-brothers, Peter S., Amos S., Samuel S., Noah S., Menno S., John S., Jacob S., Enos S., and Reuben S. Girod; and four grandchildren.
Visitation was Saturday, November 20 from 1-8 p.m. and Sunday, November 21 from 9 a.m.-8 p.m. at Emanuel Girod residence, 4089 S. 150 E. Berne. Funeral services were Monday, November 22 at 9 a.m. at the residence. Officiating was Bishop Noah Wickey. Burial was at Schwartz Cemetery.
