Reggie Swygart, Sr.

Reggie Lee Swygart, Sr., 63, of Decatur passed away on Thursday, August 17, 2017 at his residence. He was born on Wednesday, August 26, 1953 in Adams County to Harold Max and Wilda Mae (Wall) Swygart. He was married on May 5, 1972 at the 1st Nazarene Church in Decatur to Debra Kay Sudduth.

He retired from Adams County Highway Department in September of 2015 with 26 years of service. After retirement, he worked at Eckhart's Woodworking in Monroe. He attended Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur.

Taking care of his family and multiple foster children was very important to him. He loved motorcycle riding, farming, camping, horseback riding, and his dogs. He enjoyed tinkering in the garage and teaching his grandchildren how to do things.

He is survived by his wife of Decatur; two sons, Reggie (Kris) Swygart, Jr. of Berne; and Jamie (Debra) Swygart of Decatur; daughter, Whitney Kirkland of Fort Wayne; sister, Kuba Jean (Phil) Pollard of Berne; four brothers, Ronnie Lee (Janice) Swygart of Berne; Ricky Lee Swygart of Linn Grove; and Randy Lee (Janice) Swygart; and Roderick Lee (Dee Scott) Swygart, both of Decatur; seven grandchildren Cody Swygart; Brandon Swygart; Corbin Swygart; Anisa (fiancé, Adam Vaughn) Swygart; Daniel Swygart; Zionna Kirkland; and Zofia Kirkland.

Visitation will be from 1:00 to 4:00 and 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday, August 21 at Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 22 at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Ed Karges. Burial will be at Mt. Tabor Cemetery.
