Mary Jean Grandlienard

Mary Jean Grandlienard, 89, of Berne entered heaven on Wednesday, May 9, 2018 after a short illness. She was born on March 16, 1929 at home to William and Edith Stillberger of Celina, Ohio. She was married for 69 years to Kenneth Grandlienard.

Before moving to Berne in 2008, she spent 59 years of married life on a Jersey farm outside Celina, Ohio. She kept busy with sewing, cooking, gardening, canning, milking, and driving tractors. She was a charter member of Grace Missionary Church and was involved in many ways, including Sunday school, organist/pianist, building committee, women's ministries, district women's board, and fall retreat chairman.

She worked as a secretary at the Celina Chamber of Commerce from 1985-1995. She started playing golf when she was 67 and before passing said, "golf is one of the most comforting, fun thing to do.”

She will be remembered as a woman of deep faith who loved her family, her church, and her friends.

She is survived by her husband at Swiss Village in Berne; two sons, Dan (Jody) Grandlienard of Elmhurst, Illinois; and Paul (Mary) Grandlienard of Fort Wayne; three daughters, Lorraine (Max) Amstutz of Port Huron, Michigan; Diann Grandlienard of Grayslake, Illinois; and Carol Grandlienard of Kimberly, Wisconsin; 10 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.

Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 14 at the Swiss Village Chapel in Berne and from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. at Grace Missionary Church in Celina, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 15 at the church. Officiating will be Pastor Max Amstutz. Burial will be in the Swamp College Cemetery in rural Celina.
